INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

The Common Entrance Test (CET) Karnataka is conducted by CET cell Bangalore, Karnataka. 10 +2 or PUC passed students writes this examination for the purpose of taking admission into Under Graduate Engineering / Technology / Architecture degree courses in the different engineering colleges / institutions across Karnataka. The admissions to engineering / architecture degree courses are purely made on the basis of CET merit of the candidate. A candidate has to study 4 years to purse a degree in engineering (B.E.) and 5 years to pursue a degree in architecture (B.Arch.)

     

ELIGIBILITY

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible to appear in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination.

Age Limit: The candidates whose age lies between 16-24 years of age on the first day of October of the year of examination.

Schedule cast (SC), schedule tribe (ST) and physically handicapped (PH) candidates has been given 5 years of relaxation in the upper age limit. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate is considered as authentic.

Educational Qualification :

A candidate who has passed the Qualifying Examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained an aggregate minimum of 45% marks in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination is eligible for Engineering and Technology courses. (40% of marks in Qualifying Examination in case of SC, ST & OBC Category candidates.) Provided that, the marks obtained by candidate in Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics in the qualifying examination, will be considered in place of Chemistry for the purpose of determination of eligibility in respect of Engineering and Technology courses.

A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study along with other subjects and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate in all subjects, is eligible for Architecture course. Provided that all the candidates, including the SC, ST & OBC Category candidates, who are interested in admission to Architecture course, should appear for both PART –1 & PART – 2 of the Aptitude Test compulsorily and obtain an aggregate minimum of 40% marks in both PART –1 & PART – 2. Marks obtained by the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in the Common Entrance Test will not be taken into account for determining the merit / rank, for admission to Architecture course.

     

PROGRAMS

 

The main programs for which the AIEEE is carried out are:- Bachelor of Engineering: B.E. Bachelor of Technology: B.Tech. Bachelor of Architecture : B.Arch. Bachelor of Planning : B.Plan. Bachelor of Pharmacy : B.Pharm.

     

PATTERN OF EXAMINATION

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In order to get admission into an Engineering / Architecture course, a candidate has to appear in the Common Entrance Test (CET) Karnataka.

Examination is being conducted in the following subjects:

Physics

Chemistry

Mathematics

*Aptitude Test (Part – I and Part - II)

** Kannada Language Test

*Aptitude test is conducted for only for those candidates who wants to take admission into Architecture degree programs.

** The Kannada language test is conducted in the CET Bangalore premises.

This test is conducted for only those candidates, who claim government seats and whose mother tongue is Kannada. Question Paper Each question paper will be of 70 minutes duration and will be of objective type. The question paper in each subject will be in 16 different versions and each version will contain 60 questions and each question will have four different options. Each question will carry ONE mark. The candidate is expected to attempt all the 60 questions. In other words, there is no choice among questions. There is no negative evaluation with regard to Wrong answers and marks will not be awarded in respect of multiple answers In both common entrance test and aptitude test.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Candidates who have studied or studying their 2nd PUC or 12th standard in educational institutions within Karnataka should get their brochure with application forms by submitting a demand draft of the requisite amount to the Principals of the institutions in which they had studied or studying or appeared for the 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination.

The Principals of all the Schools and Colleges in Karnataka teaching 2nd PUC or 12th standard including CBSE & CISCE syllabi have been requested to collect the filled application forms and forward the same to the CET Cell both from freshers & repeater students.

The last date for submission of D. D.s to concerned Principals is March.

The Karnataka state candidates staying outside Karnataka can make the request for application form to CET cell by post on submission of the requisite amount of fee payable by demand draft.

Note : The Non-Karnataka candidates are not eligible to appear for the entrance test and also for the later seat selection conducted by the CET Cell, during the year 2006. Date of Notification: February Last Date of Submission of Application Form: April Date of Entrance Exam: May
