INTRODUCTION

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) . The admission for 15% of the total seats for medical/dental bachelor degree courses in medical colleges run by Union of India, state government, municipal and other local authorities in India except the state of Jammu & Kashmir is made on the basis of AIPMT merit list.


As per the revised scheme, the AIPMT examination is conducted in two stages :

  • Preliminary Examination and
  • Final Examination

Final Examination is only for those candidates who has found place in the CBSE-AIPMT preliminary examination.

 

     

ELIGIBILITY

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Students belonging to the States of Andhra Pradesh / J & K are not eligible. For details – refer detailed Information Bulletin of CBSE for AIPMT.

Educational Qualifications: Candidates with Higher/Sr. Secondary Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Sr. Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.
OR

Any other examination which in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English.

Percentage of Marks

Minimum percentage of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology is 50% in case of General Candidates and 40% for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes.

Note: Candidates appearing at the qualifying examination prior to the competitive test or whose result is awaited can also apply and take up the AIPMT tests, but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the MBBS/BDS Course if the required percentage of marks is not met with at the time of first round of allotment by personal appearance.
     

PATTERN OF EXAMINATION

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

The entrance examination for CBSE-AIPMT consists of two parts – Preliminary Examination and Final Examination.

Preliminary Examination : The Preliminary Examination consists of one paper of 3 hours duration containing 200 objective type questions

Final Examination : (Only for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination)

The Final Examination would consist of two papers each of 2 hours duration.

Paper-1 would contain questions from Physics and Chemistry and
Paper-2 would contain questions from Biology (Botany & Zoology).

The Final Examination will have conventional (non-objective) questions to be answered in the Test Booklet supplied.
